Facebook Brings us Together
This is a guest post by Emily Younginger
All of my children are very tech savvy and it shows mostly during the summer months. Summer is usually very hectic at my home because I always have kids flying in or out of an airport. Very rarely are all of my children in the house at the same time, so I connect to my hughesnet Colorado internet and use Facebook. This site keeps us all connected, even if the kids aren’t by a computer.
I like using Facebook through my hughes net internet because if the kids are gone for a long time we can share pictures, email and chat. It is a good way for us to stay in contact and see how one another is doing. Pictures are great, and we use our photo books to store pictures long term. We make separate folders for each trip so friends and family can see what we are doing while on vacation.
If we move during the summer months, the kids like to communicate on facebook via cell phones with their friends. This is easier than using cell phone minutes and everyone can see their status. I also keep in touch with their friends and update them on where they are going to be and when they will be home. Many times I am asked to pass on messages or chat with an absent teen-friend.
Facebook and hughes internet allow my teenagers and I to be on the same playing field when it comes to technology. This is a must for many parents who want all of the lines of communication to be open
