Sacramento

This is a guest post by Carol Ickson

When my husband and I had been married for six months, we finally got to go on our first real vacation (honeymoon not included). We saved and saved and saved and finally we were ready to go. We packed up the car, helped secure our house with adt security, and were on our way. We drove for about seven hours and finally made it to Sacramento. I had never been to California before, and it was amazing! It was so warm, and I got to see my first palm tree. We visited with some of my husband’s family that I hadn’t met before and got to make some new friends. My favorite part of the trip was the shopping! We had set aside about four hundred dollars just to blow on pointless things. We bought so many souvenirs and clothes and gifts. It was amazing. The best thing that I bought I bought at a antique store. At the store, there was a dish with a bunch of old match books in it. They were selling for a dollar a piece. I bought fifteen of them. They are now sitting on a display shelf in a really neat jar that I also bought on that trip also. We drove all around town and went to lots of places. We went to factory outlets, flea markets, and lots of other cool shops that we found along the drive. I loved going to what is known as Old Sacramento. The place is themed to be like some old western town and the shops are all really neat. We spent a whole day there. Afterword, we ate at a burger place that looked just like an old 1950’s restaurant. We had an amazing vacation. Not too bad considering it was the first one we had ever planned together. I can’t wait to go back to Sacramento. Maybe next year…
