Renewable energy
The most important renewable energy source is the solar energy. It is estimated that 25% of the world energy need can be easily met from the solar power if it is tapped by using the mirror in various hot desert areas like Sahara. The method of using the mirror to converge the sun rays is a recent and innovative technology. The mirror sets in the desert area without many clouds, converge the sun rays and the energy is used to operate the solar power plants. The study conducted by the environmental group Greenpeace, the European Electricity Association have come out with an interesting result. Installation of such mirrors to tap the sun rays will help to increase the job opportunity and fight climate changes.
It is nice to note that the investment in concentrating the solar power plants will be to the tune of $2.80 billion worldwide this year. Already the biggest construction is going on in Spain and California. By the year 2050 the IEA is expecting that 25 % of the world energy need will be met by solar energy. The mirrors used in this method is found to concentrate the sun rays to the temperature level between 400 to 1000 Celcious to provide the energy to drive the power plants. Let us look forward for reducing our dependence on the hydrocarbon energy in the days to come by resorting to such renewable energy.
