New Disease and New Threats
As medical professionals discover more, the cause of disease are understood by human race. The knowledge helps the ways to lessen the effects of illness. In the modern world as the stress and strain is more new health problems keep replacing the older ones. Every period brings with the arrival of frightening new diseases. Migration is a key element in the spread of disease. For example, HIV/AIDS may have existed for a number of years in Africa before spreading to other countries. The greater migration of people and multiple use of needles in world health organization’s smallpox vaccination programs may have helped spread the virus.
Cross species infection is one way in which new diseases occur sometimes. The disease passed from animal to human beings include VCJD (the human form of BSE, known as ‘mad cow disease”) and a chicken flu virus outbreak in Hong Kong. An outbreak ode bola virus was reported in Uganda in the year 2000. It killed many people in two months. As the human immune system is very different from that of animals, these types of diseases are dangerous to human beings and have no defense against them. Whatever may be the source such as virus, bacteria, or parasite, it is important for the medical experts to identify it quickly.
